Meditations for PeaceAs part of our 2015 Peace Initiative, we are posting a short meditation focused on Peace each day starting on International Peace Day: Monday, September 21, 2015. You will find these meditations here.
Have you ever had a paradigm shift? If so, you experienced a miracle in the truest sense of A Course in Miracles teachings. You changed your mind. You were open to a new way of thinking and feeling so you let go of the belief that no longer served you. This is how lasting change happens. It works because the old ideas are gone, completely gone, replaced with a new understanding. The higher understanding supports new ideas and feelings and allows new dreams to emerge.
This is expansion at its best. It is actually evolution when the old gives way to the newer, stronger, smarter function that allows the organism to survive and thrive in its environment. The concept of evolution applies to protozoa, to a species of animals, to the mind of one person, to the growth of democracy or to the movement towards peace. The universe is constantly evolving; it is the nature of growth.
You must let go of your fixation with time: it causes stress; it creates a feeling of lack; and it is an illusion. Calm down, you will get your work done. If you stay fully present in the in the moment, you can do anything you need to do in that moment. The time will be there, the magic will happen.
This is where your passion comes in. Focus on what matters to you. Take a breath and get yourself to that place in your heartcenter that wants to make a difference. Stay with that feeling in your chest letting it beat and come alive with your heart. Let the Goodness expand out into your being, let it penetrate your mind. Let it bring you peace and tranquility.
Your meaningful work gets done in these peaceful present moments that transcend time.
One way to be part of the solution is to actually raise the expectations you have of the human condition. What if you expected peace? What if enough of you desired peace MORE than those who desired to conquer others? What if enough of you believed that this could happen and you made it a reality?
The power of collective intent makes this possible.
Think about the millions and millions of people over thousands of years that have desired peace. They did it in their time and you are doing it in yours. You aren’t the first people to feel this way; you are adding to their collective intentions for peace. You are standing on their shoulders – the myriads of warriors for peace throughout time. You are continuing the contribution of energy towards a peaceful existence for man.
Contribute wholeheartedly. Continue it with honor. This is how it can happen in your lifetime.
Keep looking deeply into your thoughts. Be honest with yourself and what you are thinking. Your thoughts and actions not only affect your reality, they have an impact on those around you and mankind in general. You are powerful for the world.
Thoughts of world peace are important. Holding that grand vision for your planet is valuable work. Peace in the world begins in your mind and is promoted through your actions. Yes, you are one person. One person does make a difference. Think of Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela as a few examples. Their peaceful thoughts and actions have changed the very course of mankind. So can yours!
Peace is a state of mind. It begins with you. It is possible to have peace of mind in the midst of an enormous challenge or even in horrific conditions.
The peace is generated in your heartcenter and radiates outward to your mind. You must be willing to relinquish the control your mind normally has over you and give the attention to your heartcenter. Peace is really a state of heart.
The peace comes from a spiritual place; it is your connection to the Light through your higher self. It is a spiritual state that can lift you out of the human condition long enough to experience a peaceful feeling. In this present moment be aware of the peaceful feeling in your heartcenter. From here peace expands into your consciousness.
For this present moment, you have peace of mind.
Today is filled with Light. This Light shines day and night for mankind: it is the light at the end of the tunnel; the light of hope for those living in oppression; the Light of the world that connects you all.
This Light is a source of peace that is always available. You go to it by going within; it is within you shining in the darkness. The Light is also a source of joy, compassion, acceptance, tenderness and love. Become aware of this limitless wellspring of Goodness available to you.
Close your eyes then breathe right into the Light in your heartcenter. Let the Light and Its Goodness expand in your awareness. It will brighten the way for you and bring you peace.
